The head coach of Ambassadors FC Prague is Tomáš Jeník, who is also one of the players on our first team. Tomáš grew up playing soccer in Mladá Boleslav; as an adult, he played for Velim and Nymburk, and also played several games in the third division. His career was cut short by a serious ankle injury, after which he devoted himself fully to coaching youth players.

Thanks to his great passion for coaching, Tomáš has a thorough education and currently holds the second-highest UEFA A coaching license. He began coaching while still a player in Velim and gained further experience as a youth coach at the league club Mladá Boleslav, where he worked for five years. In addition, he also coached youth teams in the Central Bohemian Region. In 2018, he moved to Ambassadors, where he serves not only as a player and coach of the first team but also as the head coach of the entire club. He is responsible for creating training plans and training youth coaches, as well as for the soccer and personal development of the club’s players.

“I think soccer should give people much more than just the joy of playing the game. We know that most of our players won’t go on to become professional soccer players who make a living from it. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be good people,” says Tomáš Jeník in an interview for the club’s website.

“Clubs often aren’t interested in players as people, but only in their performance and what they bring to the game. They’re no longer interested in them as individuals. That’s what’s different here—that’s why we do things differently. For us, the player comes first as a person, and only then as an athlete. Although, of course, we’re demanding,” he adds with a smile.

You can find Tomáš not only at the first team’s practices and games, but also at our U19 games and, from time to time, at the practices of all our other youth teams. You can find an in-depth interview with our head coach at Youtube Ambassadors!
